OUSA Petition against Higher Education cuts

You will know of the cuts the UK Government are proposing to make to Higher Education funding which moves much of the cost onto the student. This will greatly affect Open University students and we are supporting the OUSA petition on the UK Parliamentary website. If they can get 100,000 signatures there is a chance of forcing a debate in Parliament. A link to the petition is given below.

The Petition: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/22316

Comedians
by Trevor Griffiths

'Still, I made the buggers laugh…'

Comedians is a funny and shocking play about laughter and education. Set in 1977on the eve of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee (and before alternative comedy took over the world) six comedians are on their last night of an evening class for stand ups.  Their teacher is an ex-music hall comic (who stopped laughing in 1945). He has tried to show them how comedy can be revolutionary but some still just want bums on seats and jokes that make audiences laugh whatever the cost. Sound familiar? This is the debate about “education for education’s sake OR education for jobs” that of course we are still facing in 2012….back then one comedian remains true to a radical and surreal agenda!

Not suitable for under 16s due to the strong language and content

Tickets: £8 (discounts: £7)
